I just thought I'd take a moment to inform everyone about an event that I'm participating in on Friday. It's called Day of Silence, and it's basically where people choose to be silent, either for the whole day or just during school, in honor of GLBTQ [gay, lesbian, bisexual, transexual, questioning] people who have been harassed or abused because of who they are. I think that this is a great way to raise awareness and also pay respect to the GLBTQ people who get harassed for their sexuality. This year, it's also in memory of Lawrence King, a California 8th grader who was gunned down at his school for his sexuality. To find out more about Day of Silence, their website is

You should consider participating in this event. I think it's a really good cause, and raising awareness about all the abuse that GLBTQ people have to put up with is definitely worth the effort.
